Biomedical Engineering

We have a fully equipped Biomedical Engineering Department, headed by a qualified Biomedical Engineer and supported by his team, who has received specialized training in various countries including Singapore and USA . The Engineering Manager handles all installations and routine servicing and maintenance of biomedical equipment. Biomedical Engineering Manager also supports the Diagnostics Division.

One of the significant features of SBL's advent into the Biomedical equipment business was its collaboration with Sarns , USA /Terumo and Bausch & Lomb , U.S.A.

SBL are the agents in Sri Lanka for Bausch & Lomb Surgicals, USA , and Bausch & Lomb's Intraocular Lenses is now one of the leading brands in Sri Lanka . SBL has installed several Vitrectomy machines and Phaco Machines in the Government and the Private Sector. These machines are now catering to a large number of poor & middle class patients in need of eye care.

Diagnostics

We have one of the largest diagnostic divisions in Sri Lanka , and market a whole range of diagnostic equipment, clinical biochemistry reagent kits, serological test kits, ABSTs etc. The diagnostics market is growing rapidly in Sri Lanka . There are no local diagnostics manufacturers. Only one company repacks a foreign brand of diagnostic products, while the rest of the diagnostic products are imported into Sri Lanka from all over the world.

Within the last 3 years, we have installed several sophisticated Immulite Analyzers in Sri Lanka , manufactured by Diagnostic Products Corporation (DPC) of USA .

There are approximately 50 - 70 large and small labs in Sri Lanka . Prompt and regular service is ensured to all the labs throughout the Island . We have the back-up of our biomedical engineering department for routine maintenance and breakdown calls, headed by our Biomedical Engineering Manager and team.
